Pub Magazine | Your Guide to Ontario's Best Pubs

The Pub Magazine. Summer 2011

Welcome Pub Lovers to issue # 5.

In this issue we visit more great pubs and share our adventures with you. So far it has been a great patio season and we sat on some of the best this past month or so, especially the large patio at the Watermark Irish pub at Toronto's Queen's Quay.

We visit our first cowboy pub in the village of Hillsburgh and get Irish for a day at Windy O'Neill's in Blue Mountain and again at Donaleigh's in Barrie. I go on a pub crawl with the good folks of Jack's Pub in Kingsville and Karla celebrates her German roots in the Musket. The town of Fergus shows us that it has some of the best pubs in Ontario as well as an amazing Highland Games.

We have news of an amazing contest from Cameron's brewery that fans of cask ales will love. It's all good my friends, so pull up your favourite stool, grab a cold one and welcome to The Pub.

The Pub Magazine. Spring 2011

Well I finally did it, raised a glass in my 2500th pub!

Thank you Firkin on King for hosting the event and thanks to the fellow pub lovers who showed up to say hello and share a pint. A special thanks to my bar buddies at the Earl of Whitchurch for joining me, I know it was tough to leave your local but I hope you enjoyed the trip. Now on to the next 2500.

Welcome to our 4 th edition, we hope you enjoy the pubs inside as much as we enjoyed visiting them and who knows one of them may become your new local. We visit a few Craft beer friendly Toronto bars as well as trips to unique pubs across Ontario . Hidden Gems in Creemore country contained a few welcome surprises and we chat to Bill Coleman of Cameron Breweries. Speaking of Cameron's we are pleased to announce an upcoming contest that will truly appeal to lovers of cask conditioned ales. Details will appear in the summer issue.

So pull up a chair, crack open a bottle and enjoy.

The Pub Magazine. Winter 2011

Well hello fellow Pub Lovers, here we are at Magazine # 3 and the journey through Ontario’s best pubs is rolling along nicely.

This issue we visit some more great places and again they vary from the small traditional pub to the old time tavern. We go to Toronto and catch up with the good folks at Scotland Yard then visit the new ‘kilt’ on the block, The Caledonian. Then it’s off to Pickering to check out the Waterfront Bistro followed by the new Royal Oak in Whitby. We keep heading east and pull into the Snug in Newcastle from there we congratulate the Toucan in Kingston on twenty five great years. Ottawa, we pop into the Heart and Crown group of pubs then mosey way up north to the Crazy Horse in Chelmsford.

We also take a well deserved break at Blue Mountain to visit the great bars there and we pair their food with pints of Creemore, does it get any better than that. It’s an issue jam packed with pubs and of course at the bar we find the usual suspects, Peter Bombaci, Tina Hardt, Ken Jorgenson, Paul Ste Marie, Roger Mittag, Karla Wobito and newbies Glenn Jackson and Brian Lyall. Lets not forget Roger Carlsen and his great photography. So sit back, pour a cold one and welcome to The Pub

The Pub Magazine. Spring-Summer 2010

Welcome to the very first issue of THE PUB!

We at Pub headquarters are all very excited about this venture, after all, who wouldn't be when the subject is your home away from home. So first of all let us define a pub. To many it is a traditional old world style bar ala Irish or English but in fact a pub can be any bar that people gather to share a beer and a bite to eat. It can be an old Main Street Tavern, a hotel lounge or a sports bar with 100 screens, if your bar is where you like to go and have a pint and wings then my friend that is your local pub.

We at THE PUB want to bring you stories about these places and the people who frequent them, not to mention what's on tap and of course what's cooking in the kitchen. We will highlight the hidden gems along with the biggest city bars, tell you who has the best wings along with the best patio and entertainment, lets face it we all love pubs so we hope to introduce to you a new favourite or two.

Sitting at our bar we have regulars Tina Hardt, Peter Bombaci, Danny Scott and Ken Jorgenson all ready to tell a story or two in their own unique way, so pull up a stool, grab a beer and welcome to THE PUB.
